Alaska Native Renewable Industries, LLC was founded in 2017 by Edwin Bifelt, MBA, an Athabascan from Huslia, Alaska. He started the company because rural Alaskans pay some of the highest costs in the country for diesel fuel which powers their community generators. To date, ANRI provided community solar array installation and LED retrofit services to both community buildings and individual homes in rural Alaska.
In 2020 ANRI installed the largest solar array in rural Alaska for Kotzebue Electric Association. This installation was the second largest in the entire state. Because of his work Edwin was recently selected as the 2020 Community Champion for the Alaska Region at the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference.
The AIIC Award for Community Champion of the Year 2020 honours an individual, business, NGO, development corporation or company with Indigenous partnership, from Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, that has demonstrated a significant commitment to community enhancement.
In 2021 ANRI is working on the company’s third major project, a 223.5 kW array in Shungnak, Alaska and 250 kW/384 kWh lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage System. The commissioning of this system is expected be complete by August 2021.
All ANRI projects utilize temporary local hire for laborers, carpenters, and support staff. We strive to partner with subcontractors and suppliers that have the long-term best interests of the local community and the client in mind. We have sought out suppliers that hold that vision as well and we are proud to use quality and innovative hardware and products from LG, SolarEdge and Blue Planet Energy.
We strive to be in constant communication with our customers until the job is done. Please use the form for an estimate, or call us for any questions about upgrading your electricity to solar.
We look forward to serving you!
